Derby College Group (DCG) is celebrating success after winning a Silver Award for their show garden at this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Live, held at the NEC Birmingham.
The Meditation Garden, inspired by Buddhist principles and created in partnership with the Birmingham Buddhist Vihara Temple, offers visitors a tranquil space for mindfulness, reflection, and connection with nature. The garden was designed by student Sarah Coe and built by DCG’s Level 3 Horticulture students at the College’s Broomfield Hall campus in Morley.
Leading the project, Paul Brady, Teacher of Horticulture at DCG, said: "This garden is more than just a display, it’s a sanctuary where people can pause, breathe, and reconnect with the world around them. Winning silver is a fantastic recognition for the students and a proud moment for everyone involved."
The award builds on Derby College’s growing reputation for horticultural excellence, following last year’s Platinum Garden Award at the same event.
