Erewash Borough Council is increasing the capacity of its Neighbourhood Warden service using £135k from the Erewash Investment Fund.
Neighbourhood Wardens help to reduce environmental crime and provide a high visibility presence across the borough.
The team work directly in the community and tackle issues like fly-tipping, littering, dog fouling, low-level anti-social behaviour and other forms of environmental crime that impact the borough. This funding will improve the ability for the council to work efficiently to prevent and address environmental crimes, which create eyesores, harm our environment and may even harm residents.
Cllr Mark Alfrey who is Lead Member for Environment said: “The Neighbourhood Wardens help to make the borough an attractive place to live, work, and visit. By using the Erewash Investment Fund to increase their capacity, we are demonstrating our commitment to protecting our environment and keeping Erewash’s streets clean and safe for everyone.”
The Erewash Investment Fund is a £2 million fund designed to invest in Erewash’s communities, helping to build a stronger, safer, more vibrant future for all our residents. An initial £700,000 has been dedicated to the fund as part of phase one to invest in the community. The fund will also support the addition of more street cleaning staff, an anti-graffiti action plan, safeguarding the Cotmanhay Community Network and more.
