Erewash Borough Council has assured its business community in the hospitality and leisure sector that the latest government support grants will be issued to eligible businesses as soon as national guidelines have been confirmed.
Following Chancellor Rishi Sunaks national announcement of support, Erewash Borough Council - along with all local authorities now eagerly awaits further guidance from the government on how the latest scheme will be administered and details of the qualifying criteria for businesses.
It is thought one-off grants of up to £6,000 will be available for eligible pubs and restaurants as part of a £1bn bailout for the hospitality and leisure industry to compensate businesses for the impact on festive bookings due to the uncertainty of the Omicron variant.
Councillor Wayne Major, Erewash Borough Councils Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Resources, said: We want to reassure businesses in our borough that we will take action as soon as information becomes available from the government, including the necessary eligibility criteria and the required application process.
Details will be published on the councils website www.erewash.gov.uk and on its Facebook and Twitter social media. Businesses are advised to register for a My Erewash business account at the website.
