Regeneration projects in Ilkeston are under consideration as Erewash Borough Council confirms it will bid for up to £20m as part of the governments Levelling Up Fund.
The councils regeneration and planning team is currently putting together potential developments as part of the bid - the focus is currently on town centre regeneration which may form part of a wider scheme.
Once potential projects have been put together, residents and businesses will be asked for their views through a first-stage public consultation.
Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council, said: This is an exciting opportunity for us to bid for substantial funding that would help us continue our drive to make a real difference to Ilkeston town centre. We are in the early stages, but much work is going on right now to put together ambitious and realistic regeneration projects.
We will keep everyone updated, but local residents and businesses can be assured that we will be asking them to get involved so they can help us be successful in our bid for this funding.
One of the main targets of proposed projects is derelict properties in Ilkeston town centre and a key element of the bid for funding will be the early involvement of local people and the businesses community.
