Maggie Throup OBE MP, Member of Parliament for Erewash met with a range of local apprentices to celebrate their work and raise the profile of apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week 2024.
National Apprenticeship Week 2024 runs from 5th to 11th February and is a chance to celebrate the achievements of apprentices, and the positive impact apprenticeships have on communities, businesses & the economy.
Over the week, Maggie met with a range of Erewash apprentices who work for local, national and multinational businesses in the upholstery, retail and engineering sectors. She had the chance to chat with the apprentices during a number of events held in Parliament and in Erewash.
Maggie said: "I was delighted to meet a variety of Erewash apprentices during National Apprenticeship Week 2024 and talk to them about their exciting work as well as why they decided to take an apprenticeship.
“Some of the individuals who I chatted to are undertaking apprenticeships at local businesses such as Dales Fabrications, and multinational organisations such as Rolls Royce. The value of apprenticeships to the individual, businesses and the economy cannot be understated.
“During National Apprenticeship Week 2024, I also want to raise the profile of some of the fantastic opportunities available via apprenticeships to those across Erewash who may not want to go to university. There are opportunities across nearly 70 per cent of occupations, so please do consider an apprenticeship. They are a great way for young people to learn, work and earn money.”
The Government has a strong track record on delivering apprenticeships, with over 5.7 million apprenticeship starts since taking office in 2010.
