A wide range of rail industry employers showcased the career opportunities available at their companies and highlighted forthcoming job opportunities at a special event held at Derby College.

Among the employers attending the event was Network Rail and former apprentice Luke Gather talked to students about his own route into the industry.
A team from Atkins gave advice on design and technology apprenticeship opportunities whilst Aegis were keen to talk about the diversity in careers. Meanwhile East Midlands Railway promoted fleet and train driver apprenticeship positions available.
Emily Bramble is chair of Derby Colleges Rail Industry Skills Board in her capacity as Verification and Validation Management Lead Engineer at Alstom in Derby.
She said: This has been a very successful event to showcase the vast opportunities in the rail industry which go far beyond just Engineering.
In the changing workplace, we as employers want people with communication and digital skills who are able to operate efficiently and effectively both in person and on virtual meetings and presentations. We also want individuals who are responsible, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
