Draycott and Church Wilne residents given August policing stats update

Residents of Draycott and Church Wilne have been presented with a report on the extent - or otherwise - of crime in the area during the month of August 2024.

A document from the PCSO and PC for the area detailed that in the month of August, there had been 35 recorded incidents resulting in 14 crimes being recorded, 4 incidents of criminal damage, 2 of stalking and/or harassment whilst incidents of note were detailed as being:

  • Cleveland Avenue: three incidents around youths and drug use
  • Garfield Avenue: one incident of youths on a shed roof
  • Derby Road: four incidents of youths banging on doors
  • Hopewell Road: youths drinking on the park

There was also a documented offence of dangerous driving on Gypsy Lane.

A local police report detailed a large police presence over recent months, which was stated as being due to an increase in local incidents over the Summer.  The statement continued: "We have worked extremely hard with our team and partner agencies to get these calls down and believe that there has been an improvement in the amount of anti-social behaviour incidents that have been reported to us."

The report also referenced the staging of a successful community catch up at the very start of the month, and added that all concerns raised meant officers were able to "piece a few things together and keep those problems at bay".

It concluded: "As the schools are back now, we hope that everyone enjoyed their Summer and hope the incidents remain low going forward." and referenced a closure order placed on an address in Cleveland Avenue due to several anti-social behaviour based reports being made to officers.
