Residents who struggle to keep active because of health challenges are being urged to tell Erewash council what it could do to help get them moving more.

The authority has launched an online consultation aimed at local people whose conditions mean physical activity is hard for them.

It is part of a new initiative called AMIE – All Move In Erewash – which is exploring ways to boost the activity levels and mental fitness of those with long-term health conditions.

People with type 2 diabetes, heart problems and conditions that affect the muscles, bones and joints are among residents being invited to have a say. Some may be struggling with their mental health.

In Erewash there are around 10,000 people with long term conditions who clock up less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week.

A message from the borough council’s Community Health and Wellbeing team said: “We are keen to hear the voices of people with lived experience so that we can provide the tools that you need to move more each day.”

The consultation runs until Wednesday 30th April and can be found here.

Residents can also contact Sarah at communityhealthwellbeing @ erewash.gov.uk to get involved with AMIE and to receive updates.
